Name: Lude (Ruth) Huang
Country: China
Major: Studio Arts
Ruth is a legacy student. Her uncle, a Citrus College alumni, convinced her that Citrus College was the right choice for her education. She now shares his passion for Citrus College and is certain she made the right decision.
Ruth plans to attend the ArtCenter College of Design after graduating and she wants a career as a production designer. In addition to her studies, Ruth is an officer in the International Friendship Club and an elected Senator in the ASCC. She says her involvement in both clubs provides practical skills in event planning, community outreach, and leadership. She affectionately describes Citrus College using an old Chinese proverb, “as small as it is, a sparrow has all the vital organs.”
This December, the ISC held a massive holiday party for all to attend. Our holiday spirit shone brightly through lights, decorations, and holiday karaoke. We had a fantastic turn-out with many new as well as familiar faces among the crowd. To top things off, we provided a holiday feast complete with turkey and holiday ham with all the trimmings and sparkling cider to wash it down. After dinner was served, everyone had a chance to serenade the crowd with their favorite holiday carols. Students were treated to all of the greatest holiday hits as they enjoyed the culinary delights of a traditional American holiday dinner. We had a great time celebrating the holiday season with all of you and wish to see you back next year!
The ISC had a fantastic year in 2018. We put on many great events. We said goodbye to eighty-five graduates with a wonderful dinner at Capital Seafood. We hosted a new NIC group in June and welcomed a whole new batch of students just a few months later for our fall intake. Citrus College received the largest financial gift in its history ($1.3 million). We also successfully kicked off an ambitious summer program known as “Experience Summer at Citrus College.” Our year has been packed with great moments and great students. The ISC would like to thank all of you for being a part of our 2018, wish luck to those who have moved on, and welcome those new and returning to make 2019 even better!
The Associated Students of Citrus College (ASCC) represents Citrus College students in committees on both the campus and state levels. They are responsible for a budget in excess of $600,000 that they use to assist the funding of activities, hold fund raisers for scholarships, provide educational resources to students, and much more. Citrus College’s student government is acknowledged as one of the best in the state of California. ISC students have played a crucial role in the ASCC for years and will continue to do so.
