June 2024
Name: Shwe Yee Myint Zaw
Country: Myanmar
Major: Biology
Shwe Yee chose Citrus College for its smaller size and location near her grandfather’s house. When she first started as an online student, she had many questions. Shwe Yee sought assistance through the Counseling and Advisement Center and noted their patience as a great help in her first days with Citrus. Additionally, the transfer and career fairs at Citrus helped Shwe Yee to, as she put it, “Visualize my future.”
When asked about Citrus, she said, “What I like about Citrus College is that it’s a small school with small classes and because of that I think students are cared for more. Someone is always willing to help you.”
ISC News
June is a month of celebration and excitement at Citrus College. It’s graduation season and a time to honor the achievements of our graduates. Every year, the ISC hosts a graduation party in the ISC lounge. Join us for pizza and karaoke before the commencement ceremony on June 14. The music starts at noon. For continuing students, Summer enrollment is open. Don’t forget to review the summer schedule for open classes if you’d like to enroll this summer. Also, The ISC is hosting its annual pool party on Friday, July 2nd from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. Stop by and enjoy the pool, games, and a taco lunch. See you poolside!
University of La Verne Campus Visit
The ISC is going to the University of La Verne (ULV) to tour the campus. In honor of the new housing option at ULV that allows Citrus College students to apply for a conditional letter of acceptance and live in the ULV residence halls while attending Citrus, we have planned a visit to the campus to familiarize students with ULV student life. The visit is on Friday, June 7, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. We will be touring the campus, residence halls, eating in the commons, and discovering all that ULV has to offer our students. Sign up for a seat in the van at the ISC Front Desk.
International Student Elected ASCC
Executive Board President
The Citrus College student government, known as the Associated Students of Citrus College (ASCC) Executive Board, is acknowledged as one of the best in California. The main priority for the ASCC Executive Board is advocacy for student needs on all campus committees, as well as at the state level. Starting next school year, Eden Yang will be the first international student to hold the position of ASCC President at Citrus College. Congratulations! We are so proud of your achievement!
